If you want to indulge in some festive shopping, head to The Yellow Ribbon Fair, Ishanya Foundation's pre-Diwali NGO fair. This year, the line-up will feature 100 NGOs selling Diwali sweets, snacks, torans, diyas, organic foods, traditional Paithani and Tussar silks saris, jewellery, tribal art, bamboo products and gift items.

The range on offer is prepared by NGOs from in and around the city. It also includes chocolates, candles, flowers, CDs, books, studded silver jewellery, miniature paintings, lamps, torans, decorative diyas, handmade bags, organic cereals, tribal art, handmade Diwali cards, Diwali snacks, Paithani sarees and much more.

The fair is now in its third year and provides a platform to different NGOs to showcase and sell their products to generate more income and generate awareness about the work done by their NGOs. The Yellow Ribbon fair is an initiative by the Ishanya Foundation to market and display products made by self-help groups.

Says Parul Mehta, founder trustee of Ishanya Foundation says, "We wanted to encourage income growth for women and noticed that they face a problem creating awareness and finding an outlet to sell their wares That's when we hit upon the idea."

The colour yellow was chosen as it denotes happiness and joy for everyone, while the ribbon denotes hope.
She observes that the response was good and has been growing progressively. "In the first year, we had 47 NGOs which has gone up to 100 this year," she adds.

Their motto is Achchi Kharidhari, Achcha Karma and they believe in it.
