Maximum swine flu victims in the the city were children, official data reveals

Parents beware! The deadly swine flu is targeting your kids. Till date 2739 swine flu cases have been reported in the capital, of which 1433 were of children, said a government official.



On Wednesday, 58 new positive cases of H1N1 influenza were identified in various hospitals and at home quarantine. Reportedly, 29 cases are of children alone, said, Delhi Health Minister Kiran Walia.

Dr Tarun Sahani, head Medicine department, Apollo hospitals said, "Immunity level is low among children. So, they are at a greater risk of getting infected with the virus."

However, Delhi Health Minister, Kiran Walia, said,u00a0 "Though many positive cases were reported in the capital, 90 per cent patients had been successfully treated."

The swine flu toll in the city touched 11 with the death of a 22-year-old man at the Safdarjung Hospital on Tuesday. He had contracted pneumonia and suffered from respiratory distress. When brought to the hospital he was put on ventilator.
