The website of a reputable engineering college was hacked by unidentified persons last month.
This came to light when a company surfed the website with the intention of tying up with the college for placement. They came across the porn clip uploaded on the website. When the company brought this to the notice of the college in Pune Rural area, the pages were immediately restored and a police complaint was registered at Dehu Road police station.
Sources said the hackers had posted lewd remarks which were also removed from the website after the company pointed it out. Police Inspector Nitin Gokave who confirmed the incident refused to divulge the name of the engineering college. "We had asked the college authorities to submit a report describing the content that was changed," Gokave said."We have still not received the report."
Looking at the sensitive nature of the case, the investigation was reportedly transferred to Pune Cyber Cell, and Cyber Crime expert Niranjan Reddy is investigating the case. "It is too early to say who might have done it," Reddy said.
Sources said it was suspected that some disgruntled students might have done it.
