Businessman fakes his abduction to avoid legal action after partners file cheating complaint against him
A city based businessman who was accused of cheating his partners out of lakhs of rupees allegedly made the police believe he had been kidnappedu00a0all to escape legal action.
The HSR Layout police managed to crack the case and 'rescue' the victim, who was hiding in his own home.
Abduction story
Last week on Friday, Anil, a local businessman, filed a complaint with the police saying his friend Shivashankar had been kidnapped.
He said five people brothers Vinod and Pramod Kumar, both businessmen, and three others had barged into Shivashankar's home and forcibly taken him away in the car.
He also said that the five had assaulted two acquaintances of Shivashankar, Mohan and Thimmaraju, when they tried to stop them.u00a0 Anil also provided the 'number' of the 'getaway car'.
Raid on home
A team of officers led by Sub Inspector Mirza Ali Raza began investigating the case.
A detailed inquiry revealed that Shivashankar and the Kumar brothers were partners in a business selling sewing machines. The business had incurred losses worth several lakhs of rupees.
When they conducted an audit, the brothers are said to have learnt that the 'loss' was because Shivashankar had cheated them. They filed a complaint against him with the Ashok Nagar police.
Upon learning this, Raza and his team kept a close watch on Shivashankar's home and learnt he was hiding there. They suspected after Shivashankar had come to know about the complaint against him, he had concocted the kidnapping story to pressure the brothers into withdrawing their complaint.
The police raided Shivshankar's home and picked him up. They also detained Anil for filing the false complaint.
