Watch French mime artist Laurent Decol let his actions do the talking rather than his words as he pays a tribute to his teacher the legendary Marcel Marceau as part of celebrating 40 years of Alliance Francaise in the garden city

The French mime artist Laurent Decol believes that be it French or Indian, human emotions are the same everywhere. And tonight Decol, a man of not too many words, is here to spread this message in Bangalore through an act titled Silent Words, which is also a tribute to his teacher the legendary mime artist Marcel Marceau. Keeping the essence of classical pantomime intact, Silent Words attempts to use his facial expressions and body movements to depict human sentiments in contemporary society.

Revealing that the oxymoron in Silent Words attracted him to name his performance the same, Decol says, "It is a tragi-comic viewu00a0 of the human condition. But unlike classic pantomime, here the main character is contemporary."

In a silent performance that deals with love, death, life, creativity and the environment, Decol will try to bring out nuances attached to various human feelings. The act divided into nine parts will have Decol enact the roles of a sculptor, a weightlifter, a magician and more.

With stories like how the sculptor works on a block of stone so relentlessly that he finishes by having only a ridiculouslyu00a0 small piece left, Silent Words mirrors the heads and hearts of ordinary human lives through modern expression and body language. However, the common character, Timolen strings all these nine pieces together and brings out universal human emotion in this 75-minutes-long performance.

Confessing that the one with the mask maker is his favourite, Decol reveals, "The idea of Silent Words is to tell stories to as many people as possible in the entire world as I want to stress upon universal dimension of human characters and emotions."
