Tall Grass at Andheri is nothing but an all-male adda. What's On dropped in and found itself aching to leave in the first five minutes
Young guys sit and smoke hookahs like professionals, at Tall Grass's open-air venue. Unrecognisable, and a bit too gangster, hip hop music plays in the background. And even as the manager tells us that they don't serve alcohol, he whispers slyly, "but we can arrange it if you want." It's essentially a guys' hangout with a strange air of shadiness about it. If you are a bunch of girls, we are not quite sure you'd fancy this one. Since we were a tad uncomfortable surrounded by so many smoke-billowing teenagers sprawled on beds surrounding tiny tables, we shifted to the "fine dining" area on a lower level, where we were the only patrons.
On the menu: The Badami Roganjosh (Rs 165) and the Murgh Kalimiri Tikka (Rs 150) was what we picked. The mutton was well cooked, but the gravy didn't match up. The Kalimiri Tikka was soaked in salt. The Dal Makhani (Rs 100) and Paneer Makhani (Rs 130) didn't speak of any particular flavour.
Service: The manager-cum-waiter followed us around, a tad amused when we shifted places. And when we were done in 20 minutes flat, he couldn't help but remark, "Itna jaldi! You didn't like the food?" Want to hear the truth, dude? Read this.
