According to police, Jai Chand, the husband of Sunita, pradhan of Kheri-Bhanota village, was shot dead by assailants in Dadri.
"Jai Chand had gone to a gym situated near the Dadri Railway Crossing, with two other persons in a Santro car. After reaching the gym, his two friends entered inside while he remained standing outside, talking to someone on his mobile," Superintendent of Police (Greater Noida) R.K. Jolly said.
"As he was standing, two men came on a bike and around five others in a Santro car. Those sitting inside the Santro car opened fire on him," he said.
Jai Chand sustained six bullets -- one in his forehead and others in various body parts - and collapsed on the spot. He was rushed to the Kailash Hospital in Greater Noida where he was declared brought dead. The assailants fled the spot.
"Jai Chand was into steel business and had rivalry with some men. Prima facie, it appears to be a case of business rivalry," the SP said.
Sources in the Kheri-Bhanota village, however, said, Jai Chand had a tiff with a person around 15 days back during a ceremony in the village.
A case of murder was registered at Dadri police station against five people, who are absconding.
