Delhi police presented a report regarding the former SP leader in front of a city court on Tuesday

Rajya Sabha MP Amar Singh has "admitted" to have facilitated the purported conversation between Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav and lawyer Shanti Bhushan, recorded in a CD, Delhi police told a city court on Tuesday.

Police said during the investigation, Singh revealed that after dialling Yadav's number, he handed over the receiver to Bhushan. In the report placed before Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Vinod Yadav, police said Singh told them the conversation took place on his landline phone, and he had come out of the room and was not aware regarding the content of the conversation.

Bhatia present
Reportedly, when this conversation took place, the then Advocate General of Uttar Pradesh Virendra Bhatia was also present. "He (Singh) admitted that a few years ago, Bhushan had visited his house in the presence of Bhatia.

"During discussions regarding a case of Mulayam Singh Yadav pending in the Allahabad High Court, (may be the case of defection), Shanti Bhushan wanted to talk to Yadav. Then he (Amar Singh) connected him to Yadav and left the room after handing over the receiver to Bhushan. He could not listen to the conversation between them," police said in its report.

Doctored?
Delhi police, though, added that Singh could not comment whether the CD was doctored/edited or not. "He (Amar Singh) suspected that the CD might have been made out of the voice bank available with someone when his calls were intercepted," the report said.

The police, in its closure report, also said Singh had told them that Yadav and Bhushan knew each other since the time of late socialist leader Raj Narayan.
