Intelligence reports reveal that last week several Delhi-based bookies had a meeting with an underworld don’s relative in a hotel in Nashik to fix the IPL matches.
According to an Intelligence Bureau (IB) official, last week Delhi-based bookies Tiku Delhi, PK Delhi, Mittal Delhi, JK Ahmedabad, JK Nashik and others met at a five-star hotel in Nashik. Some top Mumbai-based bookies had also attended the meeting.
Sources revealed that a top Nashik-based bookie, JK Nashik, who presided over the Nashik meeting is the relative of a Mumbai underworld don’s brother.
A top IB source told MiD DAY that the don himself is not interested in match fixing anymore, so his brother deals with the business.
Tip of the iceberg
Officials said that Rajasthan Royals (RR) team members S Sreesanth, Ankeet Chavan and Ajit Chandila — arrested by the Delhi Police on suspicion of spot fixing last morning along with 11 bookies for cheating and criminal conspiracy — are only small fry in the big betting pool.
In a media briefing on Thursday, Delhi Police chief Neeraj Kumar confirmed the involvement of Mumbai’s underworld and foreign bookies.
Sources revealed that Sunil Alamchandani alias Sunil Dubai is handling match fixing from Dubai, on behalf of the don.
IB sources also said, that bookies had met last week at a hotel in Bangalore to fix Wednesday’s match between RR and Mumbai Indians (MI).
At the meeting, one of Sreesanth’s kin was also present. The meeting was held by a top bookie Balaji Madras.u00a0
