Ashish Madan, the manager has said in his complaint to Sampigehalli police that the incident came to light when Arun Kumar, a customer, called up the office to check the status of his card. Upon verification, the company found that the dispatched desk has delivered an American Express credit card to him on August 20, 2009.

Kumar later called up the office to file a complaint that he had received a bill of Rs 12.6 lakh even before getting the card. Further verification by the investigations department found that the card was delivered through speed post to Kumar's office.

Since then, the card has been swiped at various showrooms for the purchase of an LCD TV, shoes, and even for fuel and car services. Madan managed to get the registration number of the cars and even the house address where the goods were delivered.

Officials from Sampigehalli police station suspect that it could be the handiwork of someone from Kumar's office, who managed to get the credit card and went on a shopping spree.

"We have some clues about the user and we are trailing his movement to nab him," said Sampigehalli inspector Ratnakar Shetty.
