Indian beauty wins Miss Wiltshire
An Indian-origin girl has won a prestigious beauty contest and as such automatically got a place in the Miss England finals this summer. Elishma Fernandes, 21 has won the prestigious Miss Wiltshire town at a regional beauty contest in Swindon.
"My friends screamed so loud it shocked me. I am still shaking now and it really hasn't sunk in. I can't wait to go to the Miss England finals and be a part of all that glamour," she said.
She has roots in Goa and is a telesales worker from Toothill. She automatically wins a place in the Miss England finals this summer. At the event, the loudest applause came from Fernandes' supporters, who raised the roof when her name was read out as Miss Wiltshire 2009. Swindon has a large minority of Goa origin.
