Israeli mystery man to be chargesheeted tomorrow

A live bullet was found on Daniel Abraham Ifriti by Lohegaon airport police earlier this month when he landed from Delhi

The Lohegaon airport policeu00a0 has confirmed that 54-year-old Israeli national Daniel Abraham Ifriti, who was held on May 5 on charges of carrying a live bullet into the country, will be chargesheeted tomorrow.






The mystery surrounding Ifriti deepened when investigations revealed that he had once worked closely with an Israeli prime minister.

Pratibha Ghorpade, Ifriti's lawyer, told MiD DAY that her client has provided her very little information about himself. "Ifriti is yet to tell me which Israeli PM he has worked with or the university where he is a professor," Ghorpade said.

Ghorpade added, "Ifriti has to stay in the city for four months in compliance with the court's order. While he was arrested under the Indian Arms Act (1959), he is likely to be prosecuted under the Section 107 of the IPC. He is presently staying in Chabad House," Ghorpade said.u00a0

However, Chabad House's Rabi Bezalel Kubchik denies knowing Ifriti.
