Inspired by forest brigand Veerappan's moustache, this group of 30 comprises people with moustaches and beards to die for.

"It's our passion," said Byregowda, an employee at the Bangalore Press Club and a team member.

Inspiration

The association, yet to be named, will be operational this month. Besides nourishing their moustaches, the core committee members will plan programmes to promote moustache growers.

Interestingly, it was forest brigand Veerappan's moustache that inspired most of the core committee members.u00a0

"Veerappan's moustache is my inspiration. Once the association is formed, we will have events exclusively for moustache growers," said Prakash, a businessman having a rather long moustache. "All of them will be unique."

Some of the events planned include competitions every year on lengthy moustaches, weight lifting with moustaches and pulling vehicle using moustaches.

Besides this, the association will also help its members by lending loans from the association's funds.

You can become a member by paying a nominal fee of Rs 500. The core committee will carry out publicity campaigns and they aim to enrol over 500 moustache growers in the first year. The campaign will initially begin in Bangalore and later expand.
