Three unidentified militants were killed in an encounter in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday, a defence spokesman said.

Three unidentified militants were killed in an encounter in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday, a defence spokesman said.

The encounter broke out when troops of 21 Rashtriya Rifles busted a militant hideout in the forest area of Wadar Bala in Handwara area this morning, the spokesman said.

The identity and group affiliation of the slain militants were yet to be ascertained, he said, adding the search operation was still on.
