Jewellers not at fault, say cops

Bahubal Jain (37) and Binu Jain (35), owners of S B Jewellers, have refuted the suspicion that they had caused the burglary of their own shop to find a way out of heavy debt.

Neither had obtained a loan for any marriage in the family, nor were they suffering from any health problem.

"Whatever they are earning from the business is more than enough for their livelihood," a letter from their representative said.

The Jains, who own the jewellery store in Vidyaranyapura, have also rubbished the suggestion that the robbery had been committed for insurance. The jewellery was not insured, they have said.

The report appeared in MiD DAY on June 15. Police said they had initially followed that line of investigation, but were now convinced the jewellers had had no hand in the burglary.
