Christmas is Christmas in any language, especially the language of music. A clutch of singers and musicians have come out with a full-fledged CD of East Indian Christmas Carols, sung in East Indian Marathi. Says Crompton Texeira, one of the singers and prime mover behind the CD called Natal, &ldquo;Nobody, I think has done an entire collection of carols in East Indian Marathi. <img alt="" src="http://images.mid-day.com/2012/dec/Silent-Night.jpg" style="width: 500px; height: 329px;" /> There have been songs or two, sung in the language but we decided to do an entire collection, it has appeal to East Indians of course, but other Maharashtrians too.&rdquo; Several carols on the CD are translations from popular carols like Silent Night, Holy Night. Crompton adds, &ldquo;Most of these singers are English carol singers but they are East Indians, so were happy to be given the opportunity to sing in the language. This is one small way in which to keep the East Indian tradition alive.
