Jingle all the way

We bring you some of the places in the Delhi where you can enjoy the spirit of Christmas

The
woollens are out, the nip is in the air, and before we realise, Christmas is here. Santa Claus is coming to town, zipping his sledge across the asphalt roads of the Capital.

While we do not exactly miss a white Christmas, our preparations for Jesus' birthday are on. The Xmas tree has been set up, stars and bells and lights put up and there is a jingle in the air. The plum cake is ready and the turkey awaits. And hey, should we just remind you that it's time to put on your shopping boots too, and head to the malls.

While in most parts of Delhi you might not even feel that Christmas is here, to get a feel of the Yuletide spirit, we suggest you head to (where else!) the malls which have brought out all splendour to teach Delhiites a thing or two about Christmas. So from Swarovski Xmas trees to gingerbread houses and even animated Santas, they have them all.

Spreading the cheer
Take DLF Promenade for instance. This Vasant Kunj Mall has Santa and his elves to
welcome you as you enter the gates. The atrium has been
decorated in traditional colours of green, white and red and there is a 40-ft high Christmas tree which has been adorned with satin ribbons, bells, hanging gifts, golden and silver balls, lights and the works. A special light show will be held around the tree every hour. For kids, there is a toy train that will lead to a 20-ft high Santa castle where Santa will give away gifts to each child who wishes to meet him. Special Santa post offices and a Santa travel agency has been created for kids who want to write letters to Santa.

Though it doesn't snow in Delhi, you can still experience a white Christmas in Select Citywalk in Saket. They have recreated a snowy winter landscape where kids can meet Santa. The 35-ft high Christmas tree is done up with over a lakh crystals. At the plaza outside, there is a sledge with reindeers. There is also a Christmas market with Christmas accessories, cakes and cookies, gifts. There will be a live choir, guitarists, flash mob dancers and fusion artists who will perform at Central Atrium. Hang Out has a life-sized mechanically animated Santa which will narrate Xmas stories and sing carols.

Yummie delights
At DLF Place next door, they have an 8-ft tall Ginger bread house which has goodies like chocolate and ginger cookies, cakes, pies, puddings, marshmallows, yule logs and more.u00a0 A Grand princess pageant will also be hosted. The mall has tied up with Disney so there are life-size castles, princess costumes, Pixar cars, animation workshops, story-telling sessions and interactive games.

If not a white Christmas, witness a sparkling Christmas with a tree that has been made using over 4,00,000 Swarovski crystals at DLF Emporio. There will also be carol singing.
So ring in the celebrations.
