Creme & Crust, a tiny pastry shop hidden in Indiranagar offers some jumbo treats

At first glance, this recently opened bakery in the corporate looking brown building amidst scores of restaurants and shops on 100 Feet Road, Indiranagar hardly gives away anything.

As you walk down the wooden corridor to reach Cr me & Crust, all that you can see are some round cane stools and low tables. But as you go closer, the tiny space turns out to be a heaven for those with a sweet tooth. Cozy and cute, the place is apt for youngsters who want to nibble on to baked delights away from the maddening crowd.

There were black forest cakes, muffins, Belgium dark chocolate pastries and what not laid out before us. There were also chicken quiches and other savoury nibbles but the huge size of each pastry made us think twice and we decided to order one for each.

A chocolate lover, my friend's instant pick was a mammoth sized Kit Kat Pastry (R 120) while I wasted 10 minutes deciding whether the Blueberry or the Raspberry Cheesecake should appease my tummy. After much contemplation and conversation with the man behind the counter, I settled on a Raspberry Cheese Cake (Ru00a0 150).

Both the pastries turned out to be equally delicious. The cheesecake was neither too creamy nor sweet. With a thin coat of raspberry compote on the top and a crusty chocolate biscuit-like base at the bottom, the Raspberry Cheesecake went perfectly well with my steaming cup of delicate, milk less Darjeeling Tea (R 50). On the other hand, pieces of Kit Kat greeted my friend the moment he cut into his gooey and chocolaty three layered pastry. The presence of wafer chocolates in the pastry made it a little crunchy with the right amount of light chocolate cream and a spongy cake base.

However, the portions were so huge that despite us wanting more, our stomachs revolted and we had to put an end to our sweet journey. While my friend decided to have a cup of Cappuccino (Ru00a0 70), I decided not to spoil the aftertaste of the sugary delights. Tiny but comfortable, Cr me & Crust is ideal for an idle conversation over a pastry and coffee. We also found out that was that soon the eatery would be supplying creamy treats right at your door step.
