The Karnataka government has identified a manufacturer of generic drug Oseltamivir Phosphate (Tamiflu) whose brand name is Rothe USA to manufacture and "supply the drug in case of exigency" in tackling the H1N1 flu, a top health department official said today.
"We have identified a manufacturer of the generic drug Oseltamivir Phosphate (Tamilflu) to manufacture the drug and supply it to us in case of emergency," Health Secretary Madangopal told PTI.
"So far 12,886 international passengers have been screened at the Bengaluru International Airport (BIA) at the 10 counters where 25 doctors and eight para medical staff are working round the clock," he said. "There has been no confirmed case of H1N1 Flu in the entire country so far," Madangopal said, adding "the consignment of 10,000 Tamiflu tablets, 5,000 triple layer medical masks and 500 special masks dispatched by the Centre has already reached us."
The government has convened a meeting of all the private hospitals here tomorrow to seek their services in case of emergencies, he said. Ten government and three private hospitals have been identified by the government at present to treat H1N1 Flu patients, if any, Madangopal said.
