Following in his father's footsteps and taking a leaf out of the books of senior politicos such as H D Kumaraswamy and B S Yeddyurappa, junior Katta is playing the rather redundant 'poor health' card to manipulate the system.

MiD DAY is in possession of a rather polite letter that Katta Jagadish Naidu wrote to Mayor R Sharadamma, seeking exception to his membership being suspended for not attending council meetings.
In seclusion?
Katta Jagadish, who is the corporator of Vasanth Nagar, was arrested in connection with the KIADB land scam and sent to 14-day judicial custody earlier.

This development had led to him skipping the important budget review meeting and also the monthly council meetings.
As per protocol in the city corporation, if a member is absent for three consecutive meetings without notice, his membership can be seized.

To escape further embarrassment, junior Katta wrote a letter from the prison, in which he has interestingly cited 'health issues' for his absence.
Sources in the Central prison revealed that Katta Jagadish was fine and it was actually his father Katta Subramanya, who had been moved to hospital.
Opposition furious
Monopolizing on this development to pull up the ruling party, the opposition Congress lashed out at Sharadamma.
"We all know that the Lokayukta had nailed Katta Jagadish in the KIADB land scam.
Citing exception on health grounds is nothing but a cheap move. BJP has been exposed time and time again and Katta's issue will remain a subject in the council now," said K Poornima, corporator, K R Puram.
To the rescue!
Coming to the Mayor's rescue, the legal team in the council suggested that Sharadamma grant him exception from attending six meetings.
"Nothing will hamper Katta's membership. He can maintain his membership because there is a legal framework, in which such corporators can be saved.
Besides, the Mayor is from the same party, so his letter will be accepted regardless of reason," said a source within the Legal Cell of the BBMP.
