Celeb stylist Karl Lagerfeld is having a photo-affair with porcelain
Ever thought your favourite crockery set could double up as a prop for a sexy shoot campaign? Star designer Karl Lagerfeld had a wacky idea, and turned it into reality.
The style guru has set porcelain in unusual scenes for the new Rosenthal campaign. Karl, who has earlier designed for pop divas Madonna and Kylie Minogue apart from labels like Fendi, has drawn his very own personal picture of cookware with the exclusive 'Ego' collection. From the product selection to the photography, everything has been done in an artistic design campaign by the maverick himself. We get him talking on his favourite shots.

Porcelain
"I am a collector, someone who accumulates things. I have several hundred thousand books. I often find myself in the same position as this young man, lying down and surrounded by the objects."
Sets
"Atlas carries a shelf laden with porcelain objects. The derivations, the to-ing and fro-ing between mythology and domesticity, are utterly amusing. And, they make sense, too!"
Glasses
"The circus juggler didn't really perform his act very well, and it is precisely this which makes him so charming. He breaks everything; it is a sublime, cheerful catastrophe."
Vase
"A vase that turns into a boxing glove when 'worn,' symbolises the humorous confrontation between the terms fragility and stability."
