Busy be

The Busy Book Club, an initiative of the Busy Babee enterprise, is an interactive book discussion forum where they follow Horace's definition of the aims of poetry. Aut delectare aut prodesse est, or, 'either to please or to educate'. The concept of Busy Babee came around when Mandira Koirala, the founder of the club, new mother then, realised that every new mother should have a support system outside the family. She felt it was time to create this space, "a place we can call our own, where we can build a community and get everything under one roof," she explains.

Every event will see an interaction with authors, discussions and a platform where people can learn more. For its first meeting, the club saw an afternoon with Advaita Kala, bestselling author of Almost Single. "This month, we have a discussion on Above Average by Amitabha Bagchi. Meaningful movies are on the cards, too," reveals Koirala.

Headed by designer and socialite Kanchan Kapoor, W-Factoru00a0aims to make city women well-versed with wine-drinking culture, art and fashion. "Women can relate to wine as it's a better drink for them; so this club is for all those who like it in combination withu00a0 fashion, travel and food," says Kanchan. The club is planning to offer many such afternoons for its members on a bi-monthly basis. The evenings will introduce women members to avant-gardeu00a0 theatre, internationalu00a0 performances, haute-couture expos, jazz evenings, gourmet food sessions and fine-wine appreciation. "Our club is very different from others, as there are lots of facilities -- interacting, travelling, charity -- all different from done-to-death activities like workouts, films et al," she adds. Are other cities on the radar? "I'll focus on Delhi first, and we'll then spread our wings to the rest of the country." The club's calendar is packed with an all-women vintage car rally, a karaoke session, art appreciation classes, a vineyard visit and what not! Get busy.
