A 60-year-old man, Vithal Ukirde, was attacked by a leopard in a village near Junnar, when he was climbing down the hills late in the afternoon.
Ukirde had lacerations all over his face and hand. He was later admitted to the YCM Hospital in Chinchwad, where stitches were given around 11.30 pm.
A relative who was with him said,u00a0 "We had gone to the farms with our cows. While climbing down the hills at 4.30 pm, a leopard suddenly attacked and injured him."
The doctors said Ukirde had to get stitches, as his cuts were deep. "The leopard had inflicted injuries to his eye, nose, lips and cheeks," said the doctor. The villagers said this was not the first time they have witnessed such a animal attack.
