Marriage demands
Tired of his constant phone calls and demands to get married, she finally lodged a complaint at the Wanowrie police station.u00a0 The police caught the accused, Sudhakar Anandrao Lakade (25), after going through call records and SMS details.
According to the complainant, the harassment had been on for six months.
"I was a guarantor for my brother and had given the private loan agency my contact number. Lakade, an executive there, started calling me and making small talk. After a point the calls got annoying. He would want to meet me and even tried to pressurise me to marry him," said Avantika Bhandarkar (name changed on request).
Obscene language
Bhandarkar had even asked a friend to intervene. Still, Lakade would use obscene language and send lewd messages to her.
PSI Prasad Sanas, the officer investigating the case, said that tracing Lakade was a difficult task.
"Initially, we had arrested another person in connection with the case but realised that the SIM card was bought in his name. After cross checking with his mobile tower location, we realised that he was not involved in the case. We then tracked Lakade from his tower location. He was arrested on Wednesday night," said Sanas.u00a0
Officers also confirmed that after scrutinising Lakade's call records, it was found that he had sent obscene messages to another woman as well.
Lakade was produced at Lashkar court and remanded in magisterial custody.
