The Lokayukta plans to soften the slogan on its envelopes bribes will be referred to as a crime rather than as treason.
In 2003, the Lokayukta started franking the slogan Lanchakora Maha Desha Drohi on its envelopes, meaning the one who accepts bribeu00a0 is a traitor, to create awareness among the public including politicians and bureaucrats.
It now proposes to change the slogan to Lancha Koduvudu Apradha, Swikarisuvudu Mahaparadha, meaning bribing is a crime and accepting it is a bigger crime.
"The words were very harsh," said K B Sangannanavar, deputy registrar (administration) Lokayukta. "So we have decided to change it."
Sangannanavar said they would write to the postal department about the change and seek its approval.
The new envelope should be in use by June, said sources.
