Lokayukta traps BU syndicate member

Jayalakshmi Devi, who was appointed as chairperson of the inspection committee by the university to inspect the college building, visited the premises and later demanded a bribe of Rs 5 lakh to give her approval.
Pragun Jindal Education Institution expressed its inability to pay so much and therefore Devi agreed to lower the bribe amount to Rs 2 lakh after a series of negotiations.
Later, the liaison officer of the college, AK Sridhar, informed the Lokayukta before going to Devi's residence to pay the bribe. The officials caught Devi's aide Jayaramu and her son Alok A Vasista when they were accepting the bribe. The officials further raided the premises and arrested Jayalakshmi Devi and booked her under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
