The Nigdi police have registered a case of attempt to murder against two when they shot at labour union leader Prakash Chavan (45) at the Labour Office at Transport Nagar in Nigdi.

The Nigdi police have registered a case of attempt to murder against two when they shot at labour union leader Prakash Chavan (45) at the Labour Office at Transport Nagar in Nigdi.

The resident of Bhosari was attacked by two unidentified men in the afternoon. The police recovered two live catridges from the site in the late evening and registered the crime.

PI Sharad Ugale said, "We reached the place following the complaint made by Pandurang Kadam, another labourer. Kadam claimed that shots were fired at Prakash Chavan."

He told MiD DAY that the accused have still not been identified. He further added that the accused have been charged under section 307 (attempt to murder).

Deputy Commissioner of Police Dyaneshwar Chavan said, "Two rounds were fired. We are unable to get any details, as there were no witnesses."
