The Madhya Pradesh government is planning to sell its handicraft and handloom products on e-commerce portals like Amazon and Flipkart to boost their sale. "We are trying to sell the handicraft and handloom products on e-commerce websites like Amazon and Flipkart to enhance their sale," Sonali Ponkshe Vayangankar, Commissioner and Managing Director of Sant Ravidas Madhya Pradesh Handicraft and Handloom Development Corporation told reporters here today.

Replying to a query, she said that after the introduction of GST, prices of some of the handicraft and handloom products have gone up, which resulted in the decline in their sale. Vayangankar also informed that the corporation is also raising awareness among the artisans to take Geographical Indication (GI) tag for their traditional handicraft and handloom products. Maheshwar saris, leather toys of Indore and Chanderi's fabrics are among the products of Madhya Pradesh, which have got GI certification.
