Car of two engineers who had gone to take a look at accident-prone spots on the expressway was hit from behind in front of Pavana police chowky
When chief engineer and executive engineer of the State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) went to visit the accident-prone spot in front of Pavana police chowky, near Kamshet tunnel, on the Mumbai-Pune expressway yesterday evening, little did they know that they themselves would meet with an accident.

According to Assistantu00a0Sub-Inspector A K Khedekar of Kamshet police station, the two officers, chief engineer Arun Deodhar and executive engineer A P Abrol, had come to the accident-prone spot when a Xylo (MH 02 CH 9727) rammed into their Indica from behind.
It was a small mishap in which both officers sustained minor injuries. They were taken to the local hospital where they were discharged after being medical aid. Abrol’s car driver Arvind Suryavanshi registered a compliant. Kamshet police is investigating the case but no arrest has been made so far.
On January 28, five persons were killed in a road mishap at the same spot. The same day, three people, including actor Bhalchandra Kadam, were injured in an accident due to a tyre burst near Kamshet. Before that, on December 23, two Marathi actors Anand Abhyankar and Akshay Pendse, and his son Pratyush met with a fatal accident on the expressway.
Following the accidents, Home Minister R R Patil had visited the spots and assured action to increase the height of road barricades soon. However, yesterday, when the MSRDC officers themselves met with an accident, it was proven that the expressway is in dire need of immediate safety measuresu00a0
