So it is official now. Thirteen is no longer an unlucky number and triskaidekaphobia (fear of the number 13) is replaced with triskaidekamania (...just coined, meaning excessive love for 13). Because '13' are the number of songs we promise to play every hour, failing which we pay Rs 13,000 every day, every hour to any listener who catches us playing less than 13 songs. We are now a brand new 94.3 RadioOne maximum music fataafat! The only Bollywood radio station in the world to play 13 songs every hour in spite of the ad breaks and the jock talk (very pleasant jock talk I must say...tune in to believe me!)
So far we've had Archana, Anu, Sarita, Poonam, Victor and many others who have won Rs 13,000 each and we are not very proud of it only because those were the number of times that we failed to play 13 songs.
Nevertheless we are very happy for our lucky recipients.
And look how it turned out for my producer Rakesh: More music results in less chatter every hour and less chatter means less work and less work translates to having more time to spend with girls as far as he is concerned.
So, here is an interesting deduction... Radio listeners get more music and more money; Rakesh gets more free time and girls; and all that I am left with is a LITTLE envy.
Life to some is unlucky but number 13 is no more unlucky to anyone thanks to RadioOne! By the way Rakesh was born on February 13. No wonder, he looks so spooky...
