Anna Hazare today sought a stronger Lokayukta in Maharashtra and said he would meet leaders of various political parties to muster support for an effective legislation.

He was talking to reporters after meeting RPI leader Ramdas Athawale in suburban Bandra. "I will meet Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan and other leaders tomorrow (to garner support for Lokayukta)," Hazare said, adding, "We expected corruption to decrease during Chavan's tenure, but it has increased. We want two legislations, a strong Lokpal at the centre and an effective Lokayukta in Maharashtra."
Athawale assured his party's support to Hazare's demand for Lokayukta in the state. On Lokpal, Athawale said he would support it as long as it was within the ambit of Constitution.
Hazare is embarking on a state-wide tour from May 1 to galvanise public support for a strong Lokayukta legislation.
