MiD DAY had reported on Thursday how fearing social ostracism, Prakash Kadam (23) had dumped Seema Shinde (19) after their secret marriage in Alandi and made her keep the newborn child at an orphanage.
All this had made Seema so depressed that she attempted suicide by jumping off a bridge, but she was saved by passers-by.
Prakash, who was absconding since Wednesday, appeared before his wife's family yesterday morning, after which he accepted Seema as his wife in front of his orthodox family. Later the couple went to the Bal Ashram in Akurdi to take custody of their child.
"Prakash has given a written declaration that he will accept Seema and take care of her and their child," MNS activist Babasaheb Jagtap said. "He also agreed to legally register their marriage and will look for a home to settle down with Seema in a few months."
