Man found dead in defunct showroom

The body of an unidentified man was found on the premises of a two-wheeler showroom located on Tilak Road yesterday.

The victim, believed to be in his 30s, had injury marks on his head and strangulation marks on his neck, leading cops to the conclusion thatu00a0he may have been murdered and dumped at the defunct showroom.

The incident came to light at 11 am, after some local residents noticed the body lying near the washing area of Divija, the two-wheeler showroom, which is in the basement of Karan Prestige Chambers, near Girija Hotel.

After the incident was reported, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone-II) Ramnath Pokle, Police Inspector Satish Govekar of Dattawadi police station, and Police Inspector Deepak Arve of the Crime Branch rushed to the spot.

PI Govekar said, “The youth was wearing a white shirt and denims. His identity is yet to be established. We are scanning all missing complaint records available with police to identify the deceased.”

“We suspect that the youth was first murdered, and then his body was dumped at the washing area. Since, the showroom has been closed for the last two months, there was no movement of citizens,” added Govekar.u00a0
