Policeman who went to question a suspected chain snatcher had to contend with a problem of the canine kind.
The Hadapsar police had gone to Gosavi Vasti yesterday to arrest Shankar Raosaheb Dolare (27), a malefactor known to have a penchant for snatching chains. Dolare's sister Meena Vaydande (24) allegedly ordered her pet dog 'Dongya' to attack the policemen who were about to arrest her brother.
Taking cue from his mistress, the dog spared no effort in giving Constable Mahesh Waghmare a stinging feel of his cuspids. Though thrown off-guard, Constable Madhukar Rane, Suraj Shendge, Suhas Gaikwad nabbed Dolare who tried to flee in the ensuing commotion. "We warned Dolare against running away. Then his sister ordered her dog to attack us," said Gaikwad.u00a0
The police said Dolare's sister Meena would be arrested for obstructing the police. "Dolare will soon be arrested for robbery," PI Pandharinath Mandhare said.
