A 26-year-old man was stabbed to death when he objected to a group of people throwing colour on his employer's niece in the posh New Friends Colony area of south Delhi.

Raisuddin, a resident of Taimur Nagar, was returning home with his employer Javed on a bike. Javed's niece was ahead of them on a cycle-rickshaw when the incident occurred. Javed runs a tailor shop in Taimur Nagar.

A group of around four men threw colour at Javed's niece near New Friends Colony. Raisuddin objected to it over which an altercation ensued. "We told the boys to stop throwing colour at her but they did not listen and instead stabbed Raisuddin in the abdomen thrice," Javed told MiD DAY.

Javed alleged that Raisuddin could have been saved but too much time was lost in running from one hospital to another as nobody was ready to take him.

Raisuddin was rushed to a nearby private hospital but they refused to admit him. He was then taken to Safdarjung but the hospital authorities refused to admit him, saying that the case did not pertain to their area, Javed said.

"We then took him to AIIMS Trauma Centre where doctors declared him brought dead."

The police have registered a case. Raisuddin was a resident of Meerut and has four children.
