In an ironic twist, a man who once painted a local hospital on Magadi Road two years ago, returned to the same hospital for a very different reason. Ahmed Farigna (26) ended up on the receiving end after a group of bystanders beat him up for allegedly attempting to rob Satish Kumar (25), a bank clerk, along with two other collaborators in Rajiv Gandhi Nagar last night.

Kumar, the victim alleged that he was on his way home when Farigna stepped in front of his motorcycle and demanded that he get off the bike. Two unidentified persons joined Farigna, one in an auto rickshaw from the rear, and another from the roadside. Initially, the trio attempted to steal Kumar's bike, but since bystanders were alerted to the disturbance, they tried to steal his phone and flee.
However, Kumar along with a bystander prevented him from doing so, and soon a crowd had gathered. While two attacker fled in the auto rickshaw, Farigna was thrashed by the mob. Satish Kumar, said, "I don't know who those people were, but they stole my phone. They were all drunk and one of them even showed me a knife."
His friend, Shantkumar who came to his rescue, said, "I live close to where the attack took place so I came immediately and tried to help."u00a0 Farigna sustained serious injuries by the beating he received from the mob and was taken to Kavita Clinic for treatment.
Other side of story
However, Ahmed claims that it was not he who was the attacker, but in fact, was the victim. He said, "I was going home when Kumar stopped me and demanded money. I know those people hate me, I have done nothing wrong."
S R D Raju, medical director of the clinic, said, "I recognise this man, he painted this very hospital a few years back. He added, "He's just very drunk and has a few lacerations on his face, but nothing major."
A senior police officer from, Kamaskshi Palaya police station, said, "So far only a complaint has been taken down. Since both men have different versions to the story, we'll have to look into the matter later."
