On the eve of April Fool's Day, MiD DAY reporters posed as the crew of a television channel and approached Mayor Mohansingh Rajpal with an offer. The 'TV crew' told him that after reading a MiD DAY report on his morning dance-to-keep-fit routine, the channel was impressed with his dedication to bhangra, and would he participate in a popular dance reality show?
The Mayor readily accepted.
Rajpal was told the show was to begin its next season soon and that he had been chosen as a contestant along with his wife Jasbeer Kaur. He latched on to the idea and fixed a meeting at his home in a few hours.

Rajpal and his extended family of eight people waited for the TV crew to arrive at his residence, Tirath Maya Niwas in Rasta Peth.
Finally, MiD DAY broke the news that it was merely a prank played on the family, and they all erupted in howls of laughter.
"Okay, so I have been had! Never mind, I will still do the bhangra for you," said the sporting Rajpal. And he and his wife proceeded to show MiD DAY a few steps.
Well done, Mr Mayor, you are a real sport. Happy April Fool's Day.
