I had a bad feeling about the whole thing right from the start. Barely had I placed myself on the rear seat of the TSR, when my autowallah turned on the radio at full blast with a popular monsoon song being belted out by the inimitable Kishore. I glanced up at the grey skies but could see no silver lining.

It was 5pm; I was in north Delhi and had to reach my office in Noida by 7pm (well 6 actually, if you are finicky). It was 8.30pm when I trudged into the building, dejected as a wet hen, looking every inch the 'son of the soil'. What transpired during those three and a half hours, you may ask, if you weren't out there yourself.
Well, encountering more potholes than solid ground, getting splashed by overeager motorists, some moments of road rage, discovering that the earth is indeed seventy per cent water - that about sums it up. And, just in case you are interested, I gave the autowallah a pretty generous tip.
