A new record
She eclipsed Arun Bhardwaj feat, whose name was registered in the Limca Book of Records for running 164 km on a treadmill in 24 hours.
Michelle broke the record by running 171 km in 25 hours on three different machines. The event was organised on May 29 at the Poona Club at 7 am and concluded yesterday morning at 8.
Over a hundred near and dear ones, including family members, friends and members of Poona Club were there when Michelle punched the air to celebrate her unusual feat.
She hugged her husband and children after the accomplishment, as friends broke out in dance after her exhausting run.
‘Thank you all’
“I’m thrilled and would like to thank my husband Anil, my mom, brother, my children and my friends, who were there besides me. I’m happy that I have been able to win the battle of mind over body. This is also the beginning of my preparation for the Last Desert race to be held in Antarctica later this year. I’m happy if I can inspire people around me to be fit and healthy, as exercise and fitness can help fight today’s lifestyle diseases,” said Michelle.
Also present at the occasion were Vinod, Satav, commissioner of excise, Satyendra Vikram Singh, the neutral observers for the event and Manish Mehta chairperson of Sports Committee of Poona Club.
“I’m thankful to Poona Club Committee and its members, who instantly agreed to support my effort, Matrix & Johnson treadmills sponsored by Proline Fitness and Ruby Hall clinic for their medical support,” said the Limca record holder.
First-ever
Apart from setting a new record, Michelle has become the first Indian to receive an invitation to participate in the Last Desert (Antarctica) race. She received this invite on the basis of completing Atacama Crossing (Chile), Gobi March (China) and Sahara Race (Egypt).
The elite club
Once done with the Last Desert (Antarctica) race, Michelle will join the coveted 4 Deserts Club. She was felicitated by the Poona Club in the evening.u00a0
