The Mumbai University's board of examinations has decided to conduct re-exams for the papers leaked in May. At the daylong meeting held yesterday between the board and management council members, it is learnt that management council members made the crucial decision.
The re-examinations of the three papers — Basic Electrical and Electronics Engineering for first-year ATKT students that was leaked on May 26, Applied Physics-II paper for first-year students that was leaked on May 23 and Maths-II paper for first-year students that was leaked on May 18 — will now be conducted on June 14, 16 and 18, as per the University’s decision.

Professors arrested
Meanwhile, the Crime Branch arrested two professors of Konkan Gyanpeeth college of Engineering in connection with the question papers leak case yesterday. Prof Archana Thakre and Prof Kavita Yadav were arrested for negligence, which led to the leak of Basic Electrical and Electronics question paper.
“We have booked them for negligence, as they disclosed the papers’ contents to persons, which cannot be done as per the University’s rules,” said a Crime Branch officer. According to the police, Thakre was the chief paper setter, but she outsourced her job to Yadav. Yadav then handed the paper to Sachin Lad, her laboratory assistant, to scan it. But, he gave it to Vivek Gaikwad, another lab assistant, who then handed it to Prof Milind Lad, a professor form Konkan Gyanpeeth College of engineering.
