Riot The Carnival
For those who have secretly always wanted to be the Samba Queen in the Rio Carnival but never could, the Carnival has come home. Now all you need to do is put your best foot forward and transform yourselfu00a0 into a Dancing queen

It's March and the Brazilians and Columbians around the world are getting restless. So why should the expat community here in the Capital lag behind? Today, a few hours from now, soaked in the spirit of carnival groups, Brazilian and Columbian expats around the city along with their Indian friends are going to recreate the magic of Recife and Olinda, the cities which host some of the most spectacular shows in Brazil. Some of the Columbian participants will relive the moments they spent in the Barranquilla Carnival -- street dancing and jiving in masquerade parades.

"The carnival is a part of our World Celebration in which we celebrate festivals around the world for our friends from abroad. We have timed the carnival so that it matches the real ones in Brazil or Columbia," says Madhukar Kumar, partner, Dillinet, a website which focuses on expat communities in the Capital. "We are hoping a lot of our friends will turn up in colourful costumes and dresses," he adds.

And he assures it won't be a case of all dressed up and nothing to do. There will be Samba and Cumbia dancing. DJ Peter Samuels, DJ Caliente and Matchbox Collective will perform Latino numbers to turn on the heat. The event which is being touted as the first-ever of its kind in the Capital, will also serve food from the two countries.

Step Into reggae-Stan
THIS Saturday, Reggae Rajahs, India's first reggae sound system, will be jamming and dishing out some cool numbers. The trio comprising Diggy Dang, Mr Herbalist and DJ Mocity, got together for their love of reggae music in early 2009, when the Rajahs started playing at venues across their hometown -- New Delhi. Since then, these princes haven't stopped. Their shows have often included performances by upcoming musicians such as Delhi Sultanate, Mandeep Sethi, MC AX, MC Vivan and the Ska Vengers. As the name suggest these 'Rajahs' have obviously been influenced by biggies like Bob Marley, Sly Dunbar and Robbie Shakespeare.
