A Nation-alist Congress Party (NCP) corporator from Airoli who allegedly stabbed a Congress worker and fled from the spot was later seen attending a standing committee meeting that was held at the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation in Belapur yesterday.
NCP corporator Ram Ashish Yadav, resident of Yadav Nagar, Airoli, is alleged to have had an argument with Congress worker Ramchandra Singh over a property dispute early in the morning, after which Yadav allegedly stabbed Singh with a sharp weapon and fled.

“Singh who sustained injuries to his left hand and stomach was immediately rushed to Airoli Heritage hospital and was admitted to the hospital’s intensive care unit,” said Dashrath Bhagat, district president of Navi Mumbai Congress.
According to Congress workers, the police registered a complaint against the NCP corporator only after pressure was put on them, but refrained from arresting him.
Local residents alleged that since Yadav belongs to the NCP, cops were not taking any action against him. “Yadav has plenty of complaints registered against him, and cops only register a non-cognizable offence against him and never take any action against him,” said a resident, on condition of anonymity.
“We have registered a case against Yadav under Section 324 for voluntarily causing hurt. We are investigating the matter and only then will make arrests. He and his two associates are wanted in the case,” said Nasir Pathan, senior inspector with Rabale police station.
Sampat Shevale, standing committee chairman of Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation, confirmed that Yadav was present at the meeting. “I don’t have firsthand information about a case registered against him [Yadav], but he did attend the meeting,” said Shevale. u00a0
