Human Rights Association of India had put up a donation box where visitors to market and traders could donate money and also took out a rally for the cause
With every kind of help welcome, Human Rights Association Of India has come forward and organised a fundraiser on June 28 to financially assist the families of Uttarakhand victims. The fundraiser was organised in the vegetable market of Agricultural Produce and Marketing Committee (APMC), Vashi and they succeeded in collecting over Rs 3 lakh.

Every penny counts
The association erected a small stage on which a donation box was kept where people who visited the market and traders came forward and donated money for the victims of Uttarakhand. Till late afternoon, around Rs 1,40,000 was collected. “The people of the Association came together to raise funds for the affected people of Uttarakhand. Members of the NGO themselves have donated money. I myself intend to donate Rs 1 lakh. The NGO will make sure that the money is used well,” said Radheshyam Gupta, a supplier in the vegetable market.
Mahesh Ramdas Gupta, owner of a shop in APMC market said, “All I wish is the pain of affected people is alleviated. I have tried to help from my side and hope more people come forward and do the same. It is a noble cause and the people of Uttarakhand need as much help as they can get.”
On June 29, the association also organised a rally in the APMC market. They wanted more people to come in and donate generously. Around 40-50 people actively took part in the rally and around Rs 2.5 lakh was collected. Several members of the NGO have also donated money. However, the NGO still
hasn’t decided how the money will be sent to Uttarakhand.u00a0
