Ahmedabad: Narendra Modi, on his first visit after becoming prime minister, arrived here Tuesday, a day ahead of President Xi Jinping's three-day sojourn.

Modi flew in to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport here on a two-day official visit to his home state Gujarat.
This is the first home visit of Modi after becoming prime minister. Modi was inaugurated as prime minister in May this year after he led the Bharatiya Janata Party to a stunning victory in the general elections.
Modi will welcome Xi Wednesday. He also turns 64 Wednesday.
Governor O.P. Kohli, Chief Minister Anandiben Patel, BJP chief Amit Shah, Chief Secretary Varesh Sinha, ministers and MP Paresh Rawal were among those who welcomed Modi at the airport.
Senior officers from the army and the air force along with police chief and senior BJP party leaders too were present.
Modi will stay at Raj Bhavan in Gandhinagar during his visit to the state.
