Book grandstand tickets at Rs 15,000 as organisers aren't insisting on purchase of three-day packages at Rs 35,000
If you haven't booked your ticket for India's first Formula One Grand Prix, then here is your chance to do it at a cheaper rate. Grandstand tickets for the event will be up for grabs at Rs 15,000 as organisers Jaypee Sports International (JPSI) are no longer insisting on the purchase of three-day package tickets at Rs 35,000. Also, they have revised the rates of most of the stands at the Buddh International Circuit, which will come into effect from Thursday. JPSI MD Sameer Gaur made the announcement on Wednesday.

JPSI sales officer Ishani Ghosh said that around 25 per cent of the 75,000 tickets that had been put for sale are still available. While the total seating capacity is 110,000 the remaining tickets will be distributed as per the company's commitments.
Money matters
"The three-day cost of the ticket will remain the same; we have only added the option of buying tickets for the race day Sunday. The offer is for the grandstand, classic stand and picnic stand," Ghosh said. So, fans who only want to watch the main race can buy a grandstand ticket for Rs 15,000 instead of shelling out Rs 35,000 for the three-day package. The grandstand can seat 20,000. Similarly, a seat in the classic stand will cost Rs 4,000 for the race day against Rs 6,500 for three days - practice sessions Friday, qualifying Saturday and the main race. A single day ticket for the two open picnic stands can be bought for Rs 3,000 whereas the overall package comes to Rs 6,000. The offer is not valid for the premium stand, located next to the grandstand. A three-day premium stand ticket costs Rs 12,500.

"The tickets can be bought at https://www.bookmyshow.com/ and the offer will be on until the tickets are sold out. The grandstand and the premium stand are the most sought after seats. We expect them to be sold out very soon," Ghosh said. The cheapest tickets of Rs.2,500 were for natural stand and were sold out three days after the launch on August 21. Apart from corporates like UB Group, Mercedes and Airtel, which are associated with the race, others like NIIT, Punj Lloyd and MTS Mobile have also booked corporate boxes. "There are about 55 corporate boxes and each box has 30 seats," Ghosh said. JPSI had earlier stated it expects to garner about Rs 150 crore from ticket sales of the event.
