Danny Boyle, the Oscar-winning director of Slumdog Millionaire says he was influenced by British filmmaker Nic Roeg.
Boyle has become one of the most sought after directors post the stupendous success of his Mumbai based potboiler. The film swept the Academy awards by winning eight trophies including the Best Film and BestDirector award for the British filmmaker.
And now Boyle has revealed that 'Don't Look Now' and 'Walkabout' by Nic Roeg were the movies that made a huge impact on him."Nic Roeg has been a real inspiration as a director. Finding out that he was a British filmmaker astounded me," Boyle told 'The Independent'.
"I watched his movies, including Don't Look Now, Walkabout and The Man Who Fell To Earth and it was wonderful to feel that someone from our own country had made those films," the 56-year-old director said.
Boyle, who has been inundated with offers from Hollywood top producers post the success of his film, said, "The thing about Hollywood is that it always feels so far away, so distant, so glamorous, so out of reach. But it isn't."
