No complete respite for Yeddyurappa

Two days after High Court gave interim stay into investigation of one corruption case against Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa and his kin, the special Lokayukta Court continued hearing the other four cases on Tuesday.

Two instances in the second case, which name Yeddyurappa as the accused in land grabbing and illegal denotification of land were heard and the others will be heard today.

Complainant Sirajin Basha alleged in first instance, Yeddyurappa denotified survey number 81/3 in the Arakere village of Begur for personal gain without report from denotification committee.

Allegedly, the land was purchased by persons acting on his behalf causing loss of Rs 46 crore to state exchequer and them gain of about Rs 25 crore," said C H Hanumantharaya,u00a0 appearing on behalf of Basha.

In second instance, Yeddyurappa allegedly did not follow due procedure to denotify survey number 51/1 in Deverachikanahalli of Begur, initially identified as a Civic Amenity site and allotted to an educational society by BDA on 30 year lease.

Also, Yeddyurappa denotified land after a woman claimed ownership. Her claim was turned down on two occassions, following which Yeddyurappau00a0 awarded her the land.

"The land was purchased from her after it was denotified, which caused the state exchequer a loss of Rs 25 crore and profit to alleged representatives of about Rs 14 crore," Hanumantharaya said.
