Former sports minister wants Rahman to re-compose Games anthem
AR Rahman's 'Yaaro India Bula Liya', it seems has invited more trouble than the foreign athletes.
The double oscar winner's composition for the Commonwealth Games has triggered a controversy with fans, musicians and politicians claiming that they were disappointed with the song.
Two days after executive member of the Organising Committee VK Malhotra expressing his displeasure over the song, former sports minister Shahnawaz Hussain demanded on Tuesday that the music director should be asked to re-compose the theme song.
"Even after being paid so much money, the song composed by AR Rahman is not satisfactory. He should be asked to re-compose the song," the BJP leader said.
Hussain, who was the Sports Minister during the NDA regime, said people expected the song to be a big hit but it has turned out to be damp squib. The organisers have paid more than Rs five crore to Rahman for composing the song and has the voices of Sukhwinder and Shankar Mahadevan alongside the composer himself.
The song was released on Monday by Rahman for the October 3-14 mega sports spectacle after it was cleared by a Group of Ministers on the Commonwealth Games on August 16. OC Secretary General Lalit Bhanot refused comment.
