Nothing objectionable found in Fr Dias' viscera report: Police

Panaji: Goa Police today said nothing objectionable was found in viscera report conducted on remains of Priest-turned-activist Fr Bismarck Dias, who was found dead on November 6 in a river.

"Viscera report in Bismarck case has been received today. All tests for all possible substances were done and no suspicious material in the viscera could be detected," Superintendent of Police (Crime), Karthik Kashyap, told reporters today.

The investigation into the death of Fr Dias was handed over to Crime Branch, recently, after locals were unhappy with the probe conducted by Old Goa Police. Fr Dias, who was part of almost all environment protection movements in the state, was found dead in a river at his village St Estevam, near Panaji.

Two minors, who were last seen with the deceased, are being questioned by the Crime Branch, the SP said. As the first postmortem report conducted by forensic experts at Goa Medical College and Hospital revealed that he died due to drowning, the viscera report was sought from the Hyderabad-based laboratory as a part of probe.
