Pranav Mahajan (25), an IT professional, visited many forts around Pune as a child. "These visits with my parents as a student of Std II and III gradually led me to create Sahyadri Weekend Adventures and Trekkers in June 2007 with my friend Sushant Mulay, who I met at work," said Mahajan.
The main objective of the group was to promote adventure sports, jungle safari and love of nature. "My love for forts developed as a hobby. I used to go trekking when I was in an engineering college in Pune. Then one day, I stumbled upon the website raanvata.com, which means a 'path through the jungle' in Marathi. I met nature photographer Swapnil Pawar, the man behind the site, and we decided to work together. I merged my concerns with his and our group today goes by the name Raanvata," said Mahajan.
Says Sushant Mulay (25), "After all the hard work that we did while setting up our group, we are having a really cool time now. We trek almost every weekend and sometimes we also take out some time for our families who live in Lonavla."
